When I first started in the real estate business, I had the guidance and direction of a mentor. However, he did not hold my hand. I had to learn much through trial and error. I read books and attended real estate seminars. Although, I picked up some useful information, much of it I thought was puff and fluff. It seemed to be more hype and not enough meat and potatoes.
One day when I had taken some time off work and was relaxing at my brother Hugh's home in Tennessee, it hit me strong and hard. I now had been in the business about ten years and, having achieved a degree of success, was pondering my experiences. That is when the spark of inspiration ignited in me to write a book. I wanted to provide detailed information in helping others understand and achieve what I had done. I know there are many people out there who show an interest and desire to invest in real estate because I have met them at seminars and through my business. However, 95% of them never do anything with their desire. Perhaps it is because of the lack of knowledge being made easily available.
I knew I could make that information available. This is not just surface information or bits and pieces of information, but it is detailed in-depth information, everything someone would need to know to make it happen. It is all the information I wished was available to me when I was starting out.
It is truly magnificent setting forth a strategy to accomplish one's desires and then to achieve them. It is good to experience the degrees of success along the way. Memorable events are the first face to face appointment, the first offer, negotiating, the first acceptance of an offer, acquiring the money necessary, the first closing or successful bid, competing right up with there with the already successful, and rubbing shoulders with them.
A satisfaction of accomplishment is felt in taking a beat-up house and turning it into a nice home for a family to live in and enjoy. Also, in paying your financial partner back as agreed or sooner, getting your first check of profit, helping a fellow human being turn his negative circumstances into a positive one, rescuing an abandoned pet, owning your first apartment building and your first commercial building, etc. All these give you more than monetary gain; you achieve a sense of accomplishment that is indescribable and truly worthwhile. However, that is not all; then it is our nature to always want to go the next step, that next level of effort, accomplishment, and success. For me that is helping others to achieve success as I have. Thus, the purpose of my writing this book. Good Luck!
